Christmas Traditions

Hey all!

I went to MOPS and JUMP this week (moms groups) and we talked about Christmas traditions. We didn't really have any growing up and I would explain why but it doesn't matter. Now that I have kids of my own and Bri is getting to the age where she will understand traditions, it was fun to hear ones I would like to incorporate! I will go through some that I heard and ones that I would like to do.

My friend Tiffany said her family recreated the Christmas Story with costumes while they read Luke 2. I thought that would be soooo much fun but I'm pretty sure no one in my family besides me would go for it.

My friend Chellie remembers her and her siblings had their own wrapping paper and I'm going to be doing that too. I won't tell Bri until the day of which one is hers.

A couple of people said they baked a cake for Jesus's birthday and that sounds like it might be fun but we will see how it goes. I'm not ready to commit to baking.

Some people said they go to Bronner's and pick out a new ornament every year. (Those who don't know,  Bronner's is a Christmas wonderland and it is just amazing. The best part is it's about 30 min away. Google it). I think we might go tonight! I don't want to go on the weekends because holy anxiety and too many people! Oof.

Someone else said they let their kids go to bed for 5 minutes in footie pajamas and wake them up to go see the Christmas lights in Freeland. The kids think they are out in the middle of the night and just love it. That would be fun but I'm not going to stretch myself. There are soooooo many cool traditions and I want to do all of them but I have to have realistic expectations.

My husband grew up cutting a tree down which we couldn't do this year. Maybe next year. I love my fake tree! It doesn't make me sneeze and it is not messy. We can get a Charlie Brown Christmas tree and I feel like that's a good compromise for now.

Adam also got to open a present on Christmas Eve. I like that idea but our own twist on it will be Jams. Christmas Jams every Christmas Eve and a movie or board game.

There is also a Living Nativity in Saginaw I would love to go to but it's outside for most of it but you also have to wait inside and it just doesn't sound like fun with 2 little ones. Maybe next year!

What are some of your favorite Christmas traditions?? I'm sure I forgot some good ones I heard but those really stuck out to me. Thanks for reading!!
